Philippines Attracts The Taiwan Travel Industry

 

PhillipinesThe Philippines attracts not only investors, but also tourists from all over the world as well. The Taiwan Department of Tourism (DOT) considers the Philippines as a travel destination for tour groups, conferences and other business activities.

The Philippines Travel Blog reports that this year, the Department has held the 16th Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME 2008) in Melbourne, Australia, but sees Philippines as a next potential place for the next event to be held.

Early this year, the Department took part in the 16th Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME 2008) held in Melbourne, Australia and touted as one of the top events in the Asia Pacific region for the MICE industry. As Metro Manila currently maintains to be the hub for conferences, expositions and other international trade activities, the DOT is further prepping up Cebu City, Subic and Clark to be the next centers for MICE.

According to Yehey!, the country’s strengths lie in its ability to offer various activities, attractions and destinations to assist its visitors and tourists

The DOT noted that the 131-strong group from the Taiwan subsidiary of global sports wear brand Adidas toured the various historical and cultural around Manila as well as shopping and entertainment centers during their four-day stay. Meanwhile, 73 members from Tachong Banks sales group went to Palawan for a two-week holiday. The Taipei-based company, according to the DOT, is one of the major providers of consumer and corporate banking services.

Ace Durano, the Tourism Secretary of Philippines, is quoted on Manila Standard Today speaking about the shown interest in Philippines from the side of the Taiwan Travel Industry.

“The combined efforts of our local travel trade and the department are making headway not only in reaching more of the Taiwan travel market, but also in propping up the Philippines as one of Asia’s top venues for corporate events.”
